6 Things to do to improve your ACT score

I have been asked several times this week about techniques to improve your score on the ACT.  So I am going to just post a few techniques that you must use if your taking the ACT. 

1. Learn the directions for each section prior to the test.  Understanding the directions will allow you to move on to the questions.  This will give you more time on each question.
2. When you are answering questions cross out the wrong answers.  This will give you fewer choices to look at and allow you to focus on the correct answer.
3. If you do not know an answer move on.  The ACT is timed and you must no linger on questions that you cannot answer.  If you look at a question and glance at the answers and still have no clue you must move on to the next question.
4. Know how the ACT is scored.  Read how the ACT is scored on the website.  Understanding this part of the test will allow to develop a strategy.  
5. Finish the test.  You do not know how many people do not finish the test.  Stay on track and on schedule.  
6. Bring a watch to the ACT.  You cannot rely on  a working clock in the room.  

If you use these simple techniques while taking the ACT you will improve your score.

Third, study smart.  Read over the ACT and SAT websites.  Do the practice questions.  Study what the sites say is going to be on the test.  Most of the questions on both the ACT and SAT websites are old questions that have been retired.  These questions will give you a good idea of how prepared you are to take the ACT or the SAT college admissions exam.  If you do not answer the questions correctly do not panic.  Read the answers, read the question again.  Now do you understand why you answered the question wrong?  If so, you have just learned a valuable lesson.  Read each question correctly.  Make sure you understand what the question is asking.
